Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Codeblock (to be confirmed, company number to be confirmed, to be confirmed), who provides datahuru. By creating an account or using datahuru you accept them. If you use datahuru for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf and confirm you may.

1. The service

datahuru builds your code or runs your container images, hosts them in the data centres named in our privacy policy, routes traffic to them and issues certificates for their addresses. Features are described on this site and in the docs, and may change as the service improves. We tell you before removing a feature you rely on.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with links sent to your email address, and optionally a password. Keep access to that mailbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • The owner of a team decides who joins it and what they may do. You are responsible for what happens under your team.
  • You must give accurate details, and be at least 18 or have the consent of someone who can agree to these terms for you.

3. Plans, payment and VAT

  • Prepaid. datahuru draws from a balance you top up by mobile money or card through ClickPesa. Nothing deploys until your balance covers your plan's first day.
  • Charged by the hour. Your plan's monthly fee accrues hour by hour and includes usage worth the same amount. Usage beyond that is charged by the hour at the rates on our pricing. An app is charged for CPU and memory only while it is awake, and for storage while it holds it.
  • VAT. Prices are before VAT. Value added tax at the rate in force, currently 18%, is added to every charge and shown on your ledger.
  • Monthly maximum. No month's charges pass the maximum shown on our pricing, VAT included. What would pass it is waived.
  • Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice of a price increase. It applies from the first hour after it takes effect.
  • Unused balance. Your balance does not expire. If you close your account, you may ask for any unused balance to be refunded to the method it was paid with, less the payment provider's fees.

4. When the balance runs out

If you reach a spending limit you set, new deploys and changes pause until the limit is raised or the month turns; apps already running carry on.

If your balance runs out, new deploys and changes pause at once, and we email the owners the time, 24 hours later, at which running apps will be stopped. Apps keep running, and being charged, for those 24 hours, so a small amount can be owed; it is taken from your next top-up. If you have not topped up by then, running apps are scaled to zero: their data, settings and addresses are kept, and nothing is charged for their CPU or memory while stopped. When you top up, each starts again as it was.

5. Your content

Your code, images, data and the apps you run are yours. You give us the rights we need to host, build, run and back them up for you, and nothing more. You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to it, and for complying with the law in what your apps do, including the data protection law for any personal data they process.

6. Acceptable use

You must follow our acceptable use policy. We may suspend an app or a team that breaks it, or that endangers the service or other customers, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

7. Availability and support

We work to keep datahuru running and your apps reachable, but do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where it may affect your apps. Support is by email at support@datahuru.com.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, datahuru is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the three months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Tanzanian law.

9. Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time. We may end this agreement with 30 days' notice, or at once for a serious breach of these terms. When it ends we delete your apps and their data after giving you a reasonable chance to take a copy, except for records the law requires us to keep.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We give at least 30 days' notice by email of changes that affect you materially; continuing to use datahuru after they take effect is acceptance.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
